Yo mama said what?...

Apparently the new word to describe the awkward “his or her” in sentences is ‘yo’. Or when you’re not sure if the person to who you refer is a man or a woman, you call them ‘yo’ rather than ‘it’. What? This isn’t going to work, surely. Can you imagine in official instructions: “When the fire alarm sounds, staff must leave yo belongings and leave immediately”. Everyone will be laughing too much to escape. Let’s stop contriving to fit words into rules somebody long ago created. We’ve survived...
