According to some websites, Friday saw the internet leave its teenage years and celebrate its 20th birthday.
The World Wide Web was invented by British scientist Sir Tim Berners-Lee on March 13th 1989. But the first ever website took its time and did not appear online until 1991.
There are now more than 80 million worldwide sites educating, entertaining, amusing and baffling people all over the world.
We’ve gone from basic brochure sites through peer-to-peer networking to arrive at web 2.0 which allows full user interaction where it’s all about you.
Here’s to the next 20 years, who knows what will happen!
